In the recent survey, it was revealed that number of online shoppers is estimated to grow from 50 million in 2015, 3.5 times to touch 175 million by 2020 So, what is the reason behind this popularity?

High values customers at the portal who are regular shoppers at the site, contribute as much as 68 per cent of total spend. Over 46% of the total online shopper stated that they would be willing to pay extra charges for faster delivery. More than 38% reported that they would be more than happy to have hassle-free returns and 35% said they are even ready to pay more for extended warranty.

  • Women’s Role

There is no denying the fact that women contribute a lot to the shopping at the portals. India is expected to see 5 times more growth in overall shopping and the major credit for this must be given to the women shoppers. Women are more likely to spend on the lifestyle categories, that not only cost more, but they also bring the majority of the finances to the e-commerce portals.

  • Changing Interest In Categories

People’s interests keep on changing and online shopping still makes it a lot easier for them to pick and choose the category they might be more interested in. Based on the customer’s past trend of shopping, the app is going to suggest them new additions at the sections where the customer has browsed in the past. Not only clothing is seeing an increase but categories like home and personal care are also picking up well, especially in Tier II + cities.
